How to Make Android Battery Last Longer? How to Extend and Improve Android Battery Life? How to Get Better and Longer Android Battery Life?

How to Maximize Battery Life
:headbang: :headbang: :headbang:
A popular problem for Android phone is the battery problem. The tips below may be useful.
Remember all these is OPTIONAL and surely affects performance.
Stay tuned, there may be additional tips and important notes!

Power Control Widget is an useful widget on managing power use. (picture below)

Conectivity
Turn Wi-fi and Bluetooth off when not in use.
(Power Control Widget ...OR... Settings > Wireless and Networks)

Location
Disable Wireless Network Positioning.
(Settings > Location)
Disable GPS Satellites.
(Power Control Widget ...OR... Settings > Location)

Display
Manual Brightness: Lowest (0)
For even lower brightness, use [App]Screen Filter - Set around 40 ~ 50% (!) Bugs: Cannot hit "Install" when installing an apk.
Animation: No animation
Screen Time-out: 30sec or less.
(Power Control Widget ...OR... Settings > Screen & display)

Wallpaper and Widgets
Use static background instead of live wallpapers.
Darker wallpapers are recommended for AMOLED screen.
Use less widgets with high refresh rate. (Facebook, Market, Whether Forecast...)

Network
Turn off Data Transfer (network internet connection) when not in use.
Turn on Airplane Mode when sleeping.
(Power Control Widget ...OR... Settings > Wireless & networks)
Use 2G/GSM Only, not 2G+3G/HSDPA.
(Power Control Widget ...OR... Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks)

Accounts & Sync
Disable background data transfer. (Turn on when using Android Market)
Disable Auto-sync accounts.
(Settings > Accounts and Sync)

Applications
Disallow Mock Location.
(Settings > Applications)

Sound & Vibrations
Set vibration only on silent mode.
Disable haptic feedback. (Vibration on UI interaction)
(Power Control Widget ...OR... Settings > Sound)

Language & Keyboard
Disable Keyboard Vibration / Set vibration to 0ms
(Settings > Language & Keyboard)

Rom Modules - Tweaks to your rom. Works for both stock and modded roms.
Smartass Governor >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=1159899
(!) For some CM7 Roms, smartass makes your phone very lag, use ondemand governor instead.
UnderVolt >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=1042929

CPU & Processor
Reduce processor speed. (Underclock)
Or choose [powersave/conservative/smartass] governors.
(!) Affects system speed.
[APP]SetCPU for Root Users(Available in certain CM7's CM Settings, not in CM6)
-Set processor speed and governors.

Background and Running Apps
Use task killer ONLY for apps/games u wont use for the next few hours.
Dont leave it in the notification bar, close it together.
(!) If u kill everything, your phone have to re-run the system apps all over again. Thus battery draining.
(!) Do not kill certain system apps and widgets. (They are shown if u select low security)

[APP]Titanium Backup's Freezing function
-Prevent the apps from running without uninstalling them.
-Frozen apps wont be shown in App Drawer and cannot be launched. (You can defrost)
-Safe system apps to be frozen if needed:
    Market
    Gmail
    Google Apps
    Google Search
    Google Talk
    FOTAkill
    Voice Search
    Voice Dialer
(!) Don't freeze apps like Sync, Settings, Package Installer, Messaging and some obviously important apps.
(!) Only freeze apps u will NEVER use, more u freeze, more system usage.

[APP]Autostarts
-Managing apps running automatically in most situations.
-e.g: during startup, after startup, widgets updating...

CyanogenMod Settings (for Cyanogen Roms)
-Render Effect - N1 Calibrated
-Automatic Backlight Settings - Set Dim Level - Uncheck Allow light decrese
-Haptic Feedback - Disable all
-VM Heap Set to 12, Set to 32 if u playing HD games. (!) Affects performance.

Battery Saver App
Juice Defender
-For lazy people. :D
-Not recommended as it also uses RAM.

[APP]
Extended Controls (!) Original Power Control Widget uses less memory.
viewtopic.php?f=41&t=5893
Screen Filter (!) Bugs: Cannot hit "Install" when installing an apk.
viewtopic.php?f=41&t=6343
Titanium Backup
viewtopic.php?f=41&t=5846
Autostarts
viewtopic.php?f=41&t=5891
Juice Defender

VM Heap (Cyanogen only)

change vm heap as low as needed, change back to 32m when play game, etc.

Underclock (root needed)

this instan way to reduce CPU speed, lots widget to do it like setcpu, overclock widget, etc.

Great tips Zhuhang,
Just wanted to point out that many SE users have reported significant improvements in battery life using JuiceDefender, which is basically a very good tool to improve energy-efficiency on all Android devices. What it does is it optimizes battery consumptions by automatically managing the most power-draining components (connectivity and most of the things you mentioned), so that they are used *only* when needed, rather than left running all the time for no particular purpose.
On top of that, for those who prefer to tweak and play with advanced settings, JuiceDefender gives access and full control over loads of energy saving options otherwise unavailable (advanced scheduling options, location aware WiFi controls, background sync, CPU frequency controls, the list goes on and on), through highly customizable profiles.
The basic version is available in the Android Market for free!
Hope this helps ;)

Yes, juice defender saves battery. But it just applies several tips above and some useful schduled settings.
Some users do not know saving battery tips so they use batterysavers.
So if u know these tips, i think it is more effective by uninstalling batterysavers (save memory thus save battery) and apply all the tips mentioned above manually.
And the settings go 24 hours, depands u like it or not.

ok i know now what is VM heap.

VM are Virtual Machine, used by android OS to run app, more bigger size then more app will run, smallest size will make few app run, safe battery but reducing performance, so change VM heap size at Cyanogen ROM to small can give long life battery because few app run
